#8. David James: Age 43

The England goalkeeper was also 39 when he turned out for England in their 4-1 defeat to Germany at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. David James played for several of the largest clubs in England including Liverpool, Manchester City, and West Ham United during an exceptionally long career. James made his international debut in 1997 but was largely understudy to David Seaman for the first few years of his time with England. When the former Arsenal man eventually retired – or rather, was retired by Ronaldinho in 2002 – James stepped in. He wasn’t even first choice going into the 2010 World Cup but an error from Robert Green in the first group match against USA allowed James a chance to come back into the side.
