#10. Monaco 2013-14
Monaco were looking to become the seventh different Ligue 1 champions in seven years in 2013-14. Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev took over the club in 2011 while they were in Ligue 2 and set sights on the top division title. Monaco achieved promotion and manager Claudio Ranieri was given funds to sign virtually any player on earth. In came Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez, and Joao Moutinho to join Emmanuel Riviere who was already at the club. However despite achieving a second place finish, Monaco’s 2013-14 team was undoubtedly disappointing. They fell behind PSG in October and never got went ahead of the eventual champions. Falcao and James scored just 20 goals between them despite the pair costing a total of over £80 million.
