#2. John Terry
Ask almost anyone on earth and they’ll tell you that John Terry isn’t a very nice man. The Chelsea skipper is undoubtedly an excellent defender, a leader of a team, and a hugely decorated footballer in his own right, just not seen as a very nice human being. So when Chelsea took to the field in the Champions League final in 2008, the neutrals were largely against the Chelsea man. The all-English final saw Chelsea come up against Manchester United who were vying for their first Champions League title in a decade. The match finished 1-1 and went to extra time and as the rain poured down in Moscow, it was time for heroes. Cristiano Ronaldo missed for United and with the score at 4-4, Terry only needed to score. He had to. Surely. Nope. Terry slipped and watched from the floor as his penalty hit the outside of the post and went wide. The captain wept, creating one of the most memorable football images in recent years.
