According to the (ESPN FC), With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury ruling him out for the rest of the season, purchasing a new striker in the summer transfer window is now an absolute must. Jose Mourinho’s original target, French international striker Antoine Greizmann, is hesitant to leave his Atletico Madrid side, which could spell disaster for the Red Devils amidst extreme competition for Romelu Lukaku as an alternative.
However there are other options of course, especially in Serie A. Mourinho plans to go shopping for Torino’s Andrea Belotti, who is tied for most goals in Italy along with Roma’s Edin Dzeko. The 23 year old striker is impressive to say the least, and with his 6’1 frame fits Mourinho’s desire for tall strikers that can win aerial duels as well as shoot the ball.
While Belotti may be able to fill the shoes of Ibrahimovic, Mourinho is also looking for another right wing back to join the likes of Valencia and Young in the United squad. His current target is none other than PSG’s Marquinhos, who has been deadly for the French side. This could be due to rumors that Ashely Young could potentially leave the club this summer, and Mourinho will be needing another set of cleats to help out in the position with Valencia.
These are big targets and this is Manchester United after all, so the money going to be spent will be large to say the least. Belotti has a £84 million release clause, and Marquinhos is estimated at roughly £30 million. The big spending could certainly pay off for United, and either way they will have to gamble with Ibrahimovic possibly having played his last game for United.
