#11. Goalkeeper – Lev Yashin
He remains the only goalkeeper to ever win the Ballon d’Or after an incredible career. Lev Yashin was a Soviet goalkeeper who is considered by many to be the best to ever play the game. Nicknamed the ‘Black spider’, Yashin is known for his incredible reflexes, shot-stopping ability, and all-round control of the penalty box. He revolutionised the position and has been an example to goalkeepers ever since. Yashin is said to have saved over 150 penalties and kept around 270 clean sheets in his 812 professional appearances. Yashin made 88 appearances for the USSR National Team, placing fourth in the 1966 World Cup and winning the 1960 European Championships.
