9. Marcelo Gallardo, 40 (River Plate)
Marcello Gallardo was appointed as the manager of River Plate after Ramon Diaz had resigned from the job. The appointment was a bit controversial since major players of the club such as Lanzini, Carbonero and Ledesma had left the club. Interestingly, the players fired earlier by Ramon, such as Carlos Sanchez and Mora had returned under Gallardo’s leadership. The team is currently 8th in the league and his playing style was appreciated by the Argentine football critics. At just 5’5”, it he could also be the shortest ever football manager. But he surely is a good tactician and promotes free flowing football. He brought the Libertadores Cup back to River Plate for the first time since 1996 and while he lost the World Club Cup finals to Barcelona, he still is considered to be a good manager.
