4. ANGELO PERUZZI
Many might not even recognize who this player is, and that’s just sad. Considered as one of the best goalkeepers of Italy, Angelo Peruzzi was never given the #1 spot in the team, simply because there was a bigger wall at the back- Buffon. In 1998, he lost his spot in the team because of an injury and in 2006, he was taken up as a third choice keeper after Buffon and Francesco Toldo. He might have an impressive career if you consider statistics, but people care more about the name than numbers. It was only in Euro competition of 96 when he got the chance to start for his team, but apart from that- even though he was a member of the World Cup winning squad for Italy, his name isn’t remembered with much fondness.
