#1. Sandygate Road: 1860
Sandygate Road is the oldest football stadium on the planet and is home to Hallam F.C., the second oldest professional football team on the planet. It was initially constructed way back in 1804 but played host to its first football match in 1860. That first football match – between Hallam F.C. and Sheffield F.C. – was incidentally the first football match played between two clubs in the world. It’s actually a bit of a shame that Sandygate Road and Hallam F.C. aren’t exactly at the pinnacle of world football. The ground has a capacity of just 700 and the club currently play in the Northern Counties East Football League, the ninth tier in the English Football League pyramid. Now there’s a Football Manager challenge worth taking.
