#10. New York Yankees (1939)
The ’39 Yankees team is widely regarded as the best in the franchise history. The team managed to win 106 games and dominated their opponents all over the park. Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, and Joe Gordon set the bar high with their bat swings and the pitching of the 21-game winner, Red Ruffing, ensured that the Yankees outscored their opponents 967-556, by far, the best run differential in baseball history. In the World Series, the team beat Cincinnati Reds relatively easy and managed to become victorious in four games. Long time Yankees executive, Ed Barrow, has also described the ’39 Yankees team as the greatest of all time.
