Mickey Thomas played for some of the best clubs of his era, such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Leeds United. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he was proven guilty of counterfeiting money and laundering it as well. Apparently, he had laundered them through trainees of the club when he was with Wrexham. After coming out from prison, he maintains one of his favourite and famous jokes:
“Roy Keane’s on 50 grand a week. So was I till the police found my printing machine.”
