#9. Angelos Charisteas
He scored the winning goal in the 2004 European Championships and was even nominated for the Ballon d’Or but Angelos Charisteas never played for a truly massive European football club. The striker was the hero of Greece in 2004 when he scored 3 goals to help his country win the most unlikely of titles. Charisteas’ club career however lacks the same level of glory. He was playing for Werder Bremen at the time following his move from Greek football and spent the rest of his career mostly in the Bundesliga and in the Eredivisie. He did spent three and a half seasons at Ajax but that was realistically the highest point the striker played at in domestic competitions.
