#1. Vasilis Hatzipanagis
Vasilis Hatzipanagis was a victim of the political climate at the time of his career. Born to Greek parents in Uzbek, Hatzipanagis was signed by a Soviet Top League club but for legal reasons could only play in the Soviet Bloc. Hatzipanagis is known as the Greek Maradona for his incredible skill on the pitch with the ball. He moved to Greek side Iraklis in 1975 but his contract all but prevented him from moving clubs, despite his desire. The midfielder attracted the interest of some of the biggest sides in Europe including Arsenal, Lazio, and Stuttgart but stayed at Iraklis until his retirement in 1990.
