#10. Plaxico Burress (American Football)
Plaxico Burress was at the top of his game in the 2000s. The star wide receiver was sought after for his services. He played a major role in helping the New York Giants defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Regrettably, he couldn’t think straight outside the football pitch. In 2008, he brought an unregistered gun into a New York nightclub and while trying to readjust it, shot himself in the thigh. At the time, it was a felony offense to possess an unregistered firearm in the state of New York. He was sentenced to two years in prison. He did get an opportunity to succeed in the NFL after his release, but he wasn’t able to take his chances.
