Revealed: What Cristiano Ronaldo Said To His Teammates After El Clasico

It’s no secret that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is an emotional player who takes losing very seriously. Over the years, there have been many reports of the Portuguese forward losing it following a major loss. Along with that, he has shown inconstistent form this season, dominating one game and disappearing the next. Despite singlehandedly dominating Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Ronaldo was ineffective against Barcelona in Real’s 3-2 El Clasico loss. The combination of the two sparked an angry reaction from Ronaldo after the final whistle.

According to Spanish news outlet Don Balon via the Express, Ronaldo expressed anger at teammates Marcelo and Luka Modric after Lionel Messi’s last minute winner and after returning to the dressing room, he exploded. According to journalist Eduardo Inda, Ronaldo labelled the defeat “f****** s***.” He also criticized Marcelo for not bringing down Sergi Roberto in the build-up to Messi’s goal, accusing his teammates of lacking fight in the heat of the battle.

Ronaldo was reportedly so furious that club captain Sergio Ramos had to restrain him before things got even uglier. It has also been reported that some of Ronaldo’s teammates agree with his comments, reportedly unhappy with manager Zinedine Zidane’s decision to start a half-fit Gareth Bale. The decision ended up backfiring as Bale was ineffective and was taken off in the 38th minute due to another injury.

Zidane has been criticized in the media for pushing for a winner instead of playing it safe after James Rodriguez tied the game in the 85th minute. With a 10-man side following Ramos’ 22nd career red card and second against Barcelona this season, Real were outnumbered and were unable to prevent Messi from scoring the game-winner. As a result, the two sides are currently tied in the league standings although Real has a game in hand.
