Real Madrid and Chelsea are set to go head to head in landing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, who has been enjoying a fine season at Turin. The Brazilian will cost no less than €45 million fee, which won’t slow down either club’s chase to earn his signature.
Zinedine Zidane has been overly depending on Marcelo lately, as the back-up player Fabio Coentrao not being considered good enough for the Frenchman. With Sporting and Benfica getting ready to scoop up the unwanted man at Bernabeu, Sandro emerged as a likely candidate to replace him. Los Blancos are also in the market for other left-backs including Theo Hernandez, Yuri Berchiche, and Faouzi Ghoulam.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has continued his search to find the perfect piece for his preferred 3-4-3 system and sees the Brazilian international as a good choice. Although Marcos Alonso has performed well for the Blues this season, the manager believes Sandro will be an upgrade given his attacking ability.
Since coming over from Porto in the summer of 2015 for €26 million, Sandro has impressed many with his performances. The 26-year-old has contributed the reigning Serie A champions with two goals and five assists this season, earning a nickname new Roberto Carlos in the process. He, however, failed to get into the latest Brazil squad as Marcelo and Filipe Luis are the preferred left-backs for the national team.
