According to the French sources, Manchester United are keen on PSG’s Brazilian defender Marquinhos and will make an offer of €70 million in the summer. Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the player, who has also been approached by Barcelona and Inter Milan.
Marquinhos left Roma for PSG back in 2013 for €31 million and has established himself as one of the best young center-backs in Europe. The 22-year-old is currently negotiating a new deal with the club, although no agreement has been reached so far. “It’s not just about money. It is above all a question of valuation of its image and its status in Paris. We are discussing and we will try to find the best solution,” his father said on the current discussions.
The uncertainty of Marquinhos’ future at Paris gives United an opportunity to swoop in for the player, and will offer him a salary of €10 million per season. Marcos Rojo has recently suffered ruptured cruciate ligaments which will rule him out until September, while Mourinho doesn’t rate Chris Smalling and Phil Jones highly — which explains the Portuguese’s pursuit on the Brazilian.
PSG have rejected Barcelona’s offer for Marquinhos in previous transfer windows. However, United’s proposed transfer fee might change their minds. The Premier League giants were also strongly interested in Victor Lindelof during January, although they failed to land the Swede at the end.
