According to the latest reports from the UK, Jose Mourinho wants to bring in Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for next season and has alerted the Manchester United hierarchy on his interest. Dembele has grabbed headlines since arriving to the German giants in the summer and is rumored to be worth around £50 million.
United were already interested in the 19-year-old since last season, when he was breaking through with Ligue One side Rennes. However, they lost out to Dortmund in the race to win Dembele’s signature, as the Germans bought him for a bargain price of just €15 million. The French forward has since made 40 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring eight goals in the process.
Signing Dembele will be apart of major reinforcement plans Mourinho has in store for United come next season. The Italian media confirmed that the Red Devils are keen to dish out £51 million for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, while the bookies predict that Antoine Griezmann will be signed in the summer.
Even after the club’s impressive win over Chelsea last night, United still find themselves outside of top four in the league. Mourinho has been critical of his side’s lack of finishing in games, as they currently have the least amount of goals scored in the top seven clubs on the Premier League table. Signing top quality forwards is the priority in the summer, especially with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at the club still unclear.
