10. Barry Town
Barry Town won the League of Wales for three consecutive seasons culminating in an 83 point haul over the course of the 2002-03 campaign. During this period of dominance the team also became the first from Wales to win a Champions League tie when they defeated Azerbaijan champions FC Shamkir, before going out to Porto (despite a home win that has gone down in legend). In the summer of 2003 however the club’s free spending style caught up with Barry Town as they failed to find the prize money or sponsorship that would maintain the professional squad. The club went into administration and an amateur squad was hastily assembled after the pro team disintegrated. The result of the turmoil was a 2003-04 season that saw the reigning champions relegated with just 16 points out of 32 matches to their name.
