It has been reported lately that David De Gea is set for a move to Real Madrid in the summer, with the keeper already putting up his Manchester house for sale. However, according to the Spanish news outlet Diario Gol, De Gea’s move to Real Madrid could collapse due to a WhatsApp message he sent to one of his Spain teammates recently.
The report states that apparently, De Gea sent a message to an international teammate that says he supports his former club Atletico Madrid over Real to make it to the final of Champions League this season. The 26-year-old has never been shy of confessing his love for Los Colchoneros, whom he spent seven years of his life playing for.
The keeper also feels that Diego Simeone’s side should had won at least one out of two finals they played against their city rivals. When asked about last year’s final back in an interview in June, De Gea stated, “It is true that Atletico eliminated difficult rivals and has not won this competition, so probably deserved it more than Real Madrid. I did not cry but I did suffer from the first moment.”
However, the current Manchester United man still hopes to sign for Real as he wishes to return to the city of Madrid — where he can spend time with friends, family, and his celebrity girlfriend Edurne. Nonetheless, this leaked report has angered many Los Blancos fans, who were not pleased with a former player of their rivals joining the club in the first place.
