According to ESPN, Arsene Wenger will not only stay in Arsenal beyond this season, but will be in charge of a massive overhaul that will see many new names coming in. It is being labelled as “one of the biggest shake-ups of the squad in recent times” and multiple top players are targeted.
It is believed that the Frenchman will receive a whopping transfer budget of more than £100 million in the summer, plus additional funds from player sales. The main targets for the Gunners include Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus, and Everton’s Ross Barkley. Stoke City’s up and coming keeper Jack Butland and Valencia wonderboy Jose Luis Gaya are also on the potential list.
Meanwhile this overhaul can see the club’s current two biggest players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil head for the exit. The contract negotiations are not going well with either player and Arsenal are ready to let them leave after an unsuccessful season. Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nacho Monreal, and Aaron Ramsey might also be on the way out should the club need extra cash to land their targets.
There have been many rumors spreading around lately on whether Wenger will leave or extend his contract after this season. Although the club is ready to offer him a two year extension, they have also been reportedly looking elsewhere for a new man should the 67-year-old call it quits. However, the latest reports say that Wenger had made his mind up to stay at north London.
